PM Directs Ministry of Commerce to Safeguard Existing Markets

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has issued instructions to the Ministry of Commerce to not only maintain existing markets but also explore new ones.

During the closing ceremony of the 2023 business performance review meeting and the discussion of work plans for 2024 at the Ministry of Commerce on the afternoon of December 22, 2023, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of creating new markets while ensuring that the existing ones are retained to the maximum extent possible, particularly through negotiations for multilateral free trade agreements.

Prime Minister Hun Manet commended the Minister of Commerce, Ms. Cham Nimul, and her team for their swift and effective efforts. Notably, during discussions with their Indonesian counterparts, Cambodia achieved success, securing an agreement for Indonesia to import rice from Cambodia.

The Prime Minister urged ministers accompanying him on international visits to capitalize on the opportunity to engage with international partners and attract increased trade to Cambodia.
